Driving down I-95 and other back roads in the South: Grifton, Charleston, Savannah & More

One week...5 Southern cities: Grifton, Charleston, Bluffton, Savannah & Pawleys Island

Our first stop was Grifton, NC.  You may ask where that is...its right outside of Greenville...home of the Pirates!

The next day we headed further South...from North Carolina to South Carolina, past Mount Olive, NC and past South of the Border.

Our first top in South Carolina and our second city...Charleston! We had an AWESOME lunch at Husk, starting with delicious Blueberry Flip and a Bloody Mary for Charles with 30 different ingredients in the Bloody.

Then some Cheerwine compressed watermelon and pimento cheese rounds topped with bacon and pickles.

Then for the entrees...of course shrimp and grits brunch style with a poached egg and a catfish po boy.  P.S. Charles hated I was taking these pictures during lunch...but you got to do, what you got to do for blogging.

And we just had to stop in the Savannah Bee Company store on King Street for some honey tasting.  I am so excited for my cheese honey!  It is calling for a wine and cheese night.

The third city on our trip...Bluffton, SC and the Inn at Palmetto Bluff.  Let's just say I would live here if I could and that Charles and I didn't want to leave.

I mean whats better than reading by the adult pool while enjoying a cool beverage whose name says it all "Peaches & Bourbon" with peach, bourbon and lemonade?

Our fourth city and third state was Savannah, GA.  We unfortunately didn't eat as well in this city and were sadly even disappointed with Lady & Son's where we had dinner.  But I did have a great run along River Street before all of the tourists had descended upon it.

Our fifth and final city was back in South Carolina at Pawley's Island for a long weekend at the beach.  You can't beat beach sunsets.

Oh and Pawley's Island has an awesome 4th of July parade.  There wasn't much eating out here, but I did make a couple of these Key Lime Pies with the help of my nephew.
